The Veteran Housing Program is designed to support veterans who:

  • May be at risk of being unhoused
  • Are currently unhoused
  • Are experiencing mental health/financial challenges that are putting the current

The Veteran Housing Resource Specialist provides direct support to veterans facing homelessness or at risk of homelessness, focusing on housing, health services, and client support.

Specialized Services

Housing Services:
Assistance in securing and maintaining safe housing, such as transitional housing, supportive housing, and rental assistance.

Prevention and Shelter Diversion:
Support for veterans at imminent risk of losing housing or seeking emergency shelter, including eviction prevention, landlord liaison, and discharge planning services.

Health and Medical Services:
Access to health services, including addiction support, mental health services, and traditional healing for Indigenous Veterans.

Client Support Services:
Provision of essential needs, such as food, clothing, personal hygiene supplies, and transportation for housing or job searches.

  • Grace Inn Shelter
    A 21-bed emergency shelter for adults experiencing homelessness in Belleville, with a special focus on dignity, community, and mentorship.
  • Three Oaks
    An Emergency Shelter with 16 beds for a stay of up to 6 weeks for women and their children who have experienced domestic violence.

Warming and Cooling Centres

Duncan McDonald Memorial Arena
in Trenton
Opens when there are two consecutive days of temperatures of 31 degrees or higher OR humidex values of 35 degrees Celsius or higher. When the cooling centre is activated, it is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Trenton United Church
Open nightly from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. from December 1 until  March 31. Please note that this is a warming centre for individuals to seek relief from the cold. Beds and meals are not provided.

Quinte Exhibition Grounds
240 Bridge St. West

Open nightly from 8 p.m. and 8 a.m., seven nights a week from December 1 until March 31, 2025. Security will be on site 24/7. Beds and meals are not provided.

Daily Lunch 11:30 am – 1:00 pm
Includes a hearty soup, stew, or salad along with a sandwich, fresh fruit, and a baked good.
Thank God It’s Friday (TGIF)
Frozen meals are provided weekly, on Fridays between 11:30 am – 1 pm, one for each member of a household.
Drop-In open 8:30 am – 7:30 pm
*operated by John Howard Society
Showers (towels, hygiene supplies provided), laundry (soap and dryer sheets provided), continental breakfast, phone, 2 computers, staff on-site to assist with information requests, Public Health Nurse on site part-time.
