The Veteran Family Program is a joint initiative between Veterans Affairs Canada and Military Family Services. The Veteran Family Program is a bilingual service that provides support to medically-released Veterans and their families to effectively prepare for and transition to civilian life.
**Each veteran and their family are unique and services will be tailored to meet those individual needs.
Starting 3 January 2022, the Veteran Family Telemedicine Service will provide medically released Veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces and their families, one year access of free virtual care access. This bilingual telemedicine service can connect medically released Veterans and their families to Maple, a national network of Canadian-licensed doctors, nurse practitioners, and healthcare providers who are accessible online via secure text messaging, audio, or video, and works to ensure that medically released Veterans and their families have timely access to a primary care physician during the first year of transition.
Veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces and their families have one year from their medically released date to sign up in order to be eligible for the Veteran Family Telemedicine Service. Bereaved families of deceased Canadian Armed Forces members also have access to this service. This service is part of the Veteran Family Program currently being delivered by Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services.
