Spend a night above the clouds in support of military families!
8 WING/CFB TRENTON – March 14, 2019 – All systems are “go” for the 15th annual Invisible Ribbon Gala on Saturday, May 11, 2019. The Trenton Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) has launched its annual fundraising campaign in support of military families and this year’s theme of ‘JetSetters’ is taking flight with tickets already in demand.
Tickets offer guests a chance to feel like a JetSetter and ‘fly above the clouds with MFRC Airways.’ While the evening will not actually include any flying, the National Air Force Museum of Canada will be transformed into the terminal of ‘MFRC Airways’. Upon reaching ‘Gate 15’, in honour of the Invisible Ribbon Gala’s 15th year, guests will find that ‘MFRC Airways’ reminds them of a time when air travel was a glamorous adventure, not simply a mode of transportation, with live entertainment, fine dining, and an air of luxury. The evening will also include silent and live auctions, a raffle basket with flight tickets, and more, all to support military families in the Quinte region.
The goal of this year’s Invisible Ribbon Gala is to expand the MFRC’s mental health team. Military families are facing long waitlists to access mental health care. Adding a Masters Level Counsellor to the Trenton MFRC team will help shorten the waitlists for counselling, as well as add couples counselling to the list of services available to military families through the MFRC at no cost.
“The word our committee is focusing on this year is teamwork,” explained Tamara Kleinschmidt, Executive Director of the Trenton MFRC and military spouse. “It takes a whole team of people to make an aircraft fly – and even more people to make flying feel like a luxurious experience. Similarly, it takes teamwork to support the military family community. All members of the MFRC team, like deployment or employment support, are important; this time, we are focusing on the mental health aspect.”
On board with the Trenton MFRC as the Invisible Ribbon Gala’s Title Sponsor for the fourth consecutive year is Scotiabank – Trenton Town Centre and Downtown Trenton locations. When asked why Scotiabank finds the MFRC such an important cause, branch manager at the Trenton Town Centre Michelle MacKay said, “Our two organizations share key values like community, youth, and education around mental health. That includes giving kids and military families and service members the opportunity to feel a part of our community. It is so important for military families to know that they have somewhere to go as a first stop in the area or when they are looking for support and the MFRC does that.”
Tickets for the Invisible Ribbon Gala: JetSetters can be purchased online at www.trentonmfrc.ca/InvisibleRibbon or in person at the Trenton MFRC, located at 50 Rivers Drive East, off of RCAF Road.
